Cleansing your relationship with the divine from dogma
The mystical truths that religion often hides
How do you start a conversation that deep down you know will most likely be very tender and also challenging for some people?
How do you challenge things that people think shouldn’t be?
I’ve sat with these questions before writing this piece.
And only one answer came up. You just do it. You do it with as much truth and heart as you can.
I’ve always wanted to have an unfiltered and raw conversation about God, religion and dogma.
Why do I think it is important?
Because our relationship to the divine (or the lack thereof) often influences the way we relate to life at large. It is one that is foundational. One that is worth exploring.
I personally think that religion often fills that relationship with too much dogma. And sometimes dogma can distract us from the essence.
So at the start of what I’d like to call my conscious spiritual exploration, I started to wonder what it looks like to “de-dogmatize” my relationship to the divine, so that I can go back to the essence.
You might say that the devotee of truth in me needed that exploration. To this day, it is one of the most liberating journeys I have ever taken. I wouldn’t be doing the work I do today without it.
The question most people dread
There comes a point on the spiritual path when we must ask a terrifying question:
What if what I was taught about God was never the full truth?
What if it was distorted? Manipulated? Watered down by fear and institutional agendas?
That question alone is enough to take you on a journey of a lifetime. I also think it is one of the most rewarding journeys one may ever take.
I would even go as far as saying that it is a healthy thing to assume that no one can teach you the full truth about God, Source or the divine. Therefore, that gap needs to be filled by an inner exploration of your own relationship with the essence of life.
Would you agree?
De-dogmatizing your relationship to the Divine
In this week’s episode of ENHEARTENED, I sat down with Aaron Abke to explore what it means to cleanse our relationship with the Divine from the dogma we often internalize from religion, and reclaim the mystical truth buried beneath it all.
This is one of the most raw and unfiltered conversations I’ve had on the podcast.
It will most likely challenge or even shatter things we often assume as “undethronable” truths.
The point of this episode is to start a conversation, that hopefully helps you find the appropriate relationship you need with the Divine. One that I wouldn’t be pretentious enough to assume I know what it is supposed to look like. One not necessarily dictated by a doctrine. But one that comes from a deepened intimacy with the essence of life within you.
