A few weeks ago, in the first installment of this essay, I talked about a unique form of depression we often encounter on the spiritual path. A spiritual depression. A dark night of the ego if you prefer.
It is a deep process of metamorphosis that manifests itself as an energetic stagnation or slowing down, so that you can make the deep changes that you soul needs you to make in order to realign. You can find the first essay HERE.
A spiritual depression is a crisis of meaning. It is what happens when your light gets louder and demands that you make the adjustments necessary so that it can be more freely expressed.
We know when we are not walking the path we came here to walk. It deflates our spirit. It is something we know at a cellular level.
In this installment, I want to discuss the phase of emergence from a spiritual depression and one of the single most important attributes that will help you move from the stagnation.
The most important relationship in your life
You probably expect me to say that your relationship to yourself is the most important one in your life, don’t you?
Well, I think there is another relationship that (arguably) matters more. It impacts the way you relate to yourself and to the world around you. It is your relationship with Truth.
A spiritual depression is a soul intervention to redirect you towards the Truth that your soul already knows and is.
A spiritual depression is only as intense and mind-shattering as your resistance to Truth is. If you wonder what I mean by Truth, here is what I include in it:
To live in total honesty with yourself, to unsubscribe from self deception
To be brave enough to look objectively at the world and the facts around you whether they are dark or bright without letting them shut down your heart
To be welcoming of your intuition as a divine mechanism of redirection toward truth
To romance the bigger truths, the divine one, the ever-growing awareness you can only tap into when you build intimacy with your soul
Of course there is way more that goes into this. We could discuss the mere concept of truth for ages. The most important thing is that a spiritual depression is a purification process that wants to eradicate falsehood.
Truth is a sense... a sense of the soul. When we awaken that sense, it takes us out of what looks like self sabotage and resistance. It invites us into a world of stronger integrity. It activates the gifts we had disowned. It helps us re-member the light we are. It unleashes our hearts.
Truth is a catalyst for change. One of the reasons why we dread it, is because it will inevitably cause us to create change that can be scary. We are emerging from a paradigm where we trusted deception to keep us safe more than we trusted truth. And if there is an area of your life where you feel stuck, then there is a bigger truth that wants to be acknowledged and lived in that specific area.
Liberation through surrender
By now, you may already know that a spiritual depression is not a problem on its own, even though it is challenging to go through, it is the beginning of the cure from falsehood.
The highest invitation within a spiritual depression (and every moment of stuck-ness), is to reconcile with truth in all the ways you can.
I’m inviting you to take a moment and seriously reflect on some of the choices that deep down you already know your need to make, but that you won’t allow yourself to embrace because they will inevitably change your reality in ways that scare you. Now answer the following prompts as spontaneously as you can:
The truth that deep down I know I need to surrender to is…
One small choice I can make today that will honor that truth is…
What comes up for you as you ponder these? Have you been (or are you going) through a phase of spiritual depression before?
Living at the speed of you highest truth
I like to think that embodying your light, looks a lot like living at the speed of your highest truth in every moment, in the best of your ability.
When I started my work years ago, I was so determined to help people transmute their pain and liberate themselves. That’s why I dove deep into shadow work, Internal Family Systems, trauma-informed and integrative coaching, somatics and so much more. That’s why I trained with the best teachers I could find.
Despite all of that, here is something I realized, It is so much harder to heal and liberate yourself if truth scares you and if you trust the shadow to keep you safe more than you trust your brightness. It is much harder if your efforts to heal and integrate are not fueled by a genuine intention to bring more of your brightness to the world around you.
I often say that the mere intent to bring more light in a dark world creates a spiritual momentum in your life that accelerates healing and self liberation. Would you agree?
This is why I created the Embodied Light Project (ELP). The intent of ELP is to support you with the most sacred form of integration. The integration of your brightness and the resolution of all the inner conflicts that stand in the way. ELP’s mission is to help you get unleashed in the ways you know are possible for you right now.
Upon signing up, you will get immediate access to a library of close to 200+ hours of transformative workshops, and you'll be able to join our weekly gatherings, that include a laser group coaching and and Q+A led by yours truly.
ELP’s summer enrollment closes in less than 48 hours. If you resonate with this invitation, click this LINK to join the community.
In gratitude and reverence,

Here are some words of appreciation from some ELP members.
"ELP is one of the most impactful communities I've ever been a part of. Everyone is aligned with the same vision - to walk our talk and become the embodiment of our soul's goodness and light. The level of support, safety, compassion, guidance, and connection is off the charts. In just a short time, I've already moved my life forward in deep ways, I’ve come into alignment more fully with my heart, soul, values and aspirations; I’ve built momentum toward outcomes I've dreamed of for a very long time. For the price, you're getting GOLD in return."

"ELP is the most gently and wisely human coaching community that I've yet discovered. The work we do there is deep and healing, brave and expansive, but it doesn't happen through forcing, hype, or emotional manipulation. ELP holds a beautiful balance of being/presence/flow and doing/accountability/action. It's a space where your growth is supported and empowered, not pressured. It's a space of love and invitation and opportunity where your whole self is welcome and able to be unmasked and unashamed."
