The most brutal truth a teacher of mine once shared with me was this one:
Your light doesn’t care about your feelings.
That hit me like a ton of bricks. For some reason I was operating under the assumption that if I was opening myself up to the journey of inner awakening, embracing my inner calling, and bringing my gifts to the world, then the recalibration needed to happen effortlessly or that it would mostly feel safe…
In a way I was expecting my light to coddle me, and that’s not what happened.
At the time, there were many areas of my life that were out of balance, painfully so. Especially at the relational level. I had so much to clear with my family of origin, friendships that needed to evolve and of course my relationship with myself. And that came flying to my face.
All of that was contributing to the resistance I was experiencing towards serving in bigger ways. Why? Because I knew that embracing more of what I truly wanted to do, meant that I needed to change in ways I wasn’t ready to surrender to. I needed to change in ways that could irreversibly impact relationships around me. Beyond everything, I needed to change in ways that would cause me to see aspects of myself that I wanted to keep in the dark.

Why am I speaking about all of this? Because in my opinion, a spiritual awakening is not enough. A spiritual awakening is just that… an awakening… expanded awareness. There is the necessity to build the somatic body, the emotional maturity and the integrity to embody your brightness more fully.
Being aware of your light and your gifts, is not enough.
Actually through my own experience and the years I spent in facilitation, I realized that it’s possible at the same time to have a profound level of spiritual attunement and connection to the divine, while having a poor level of emotional maturity or even integrity.
What does this have to do with resisting your light?
The purpose of light is to illuminate.
If you choose to embrace your light, it will illuminate all the areas of your life where you are not moving at the speed of truth (or honoring that truth). It will illuminate the emotional conflicts that need resolution. It will illuminate your shortcomings in integrity.
This is what is going in on collectively. You may consider that the earth went through a form of spiritual awakening. And it stirred so much shadow material that gets to be cleared.
A spiritual awakening lets the light in. It might even bring you clarity on purpose and what you came on this earth plane to do. It might rewire your relationship with the divine. And… il will shed light on all the inner conflicts you are holding within.
There's an emotional cleanup and recalibration of integrity that is needed after. That is what the resistance we feel toward our own light is pointing at.
In my opinion, every time we resist our light, it’s because we’ve just uncovered another inner conflict that needs to be addressed so that you can unleash your heart.
A spiritual awakening is precisely that. Just an awakening. The true journey of descending and embodying light starts there.
Learning how to romance and illuminate your resistance is a skill that will impact all layers of your life. It will impact your self esteem, your ability to express yourself authentically, the quality of your relationships and your ability to serve from your heart.
If you haven’t done it yet, join me this Sunday 14th at 1pm ET for an in-depth free workshop where we will work on how to illuminate your resistance and unleash the life force that is often trapped within it so that you can reinvent yourself.
