I’ve always had a hard time with the expression “there is light at the end of the tunnel”.

I can see the good intention behind it...

Keep going, there is a benevolent outcome at the end. Keep enduring, if it’s not okay, then it’s not the end yet.

I like that sentiment. But something never sat right with me about that saying.

As much as I love values such as patience, grit and determination, if we are not careful, the saying also sells the idea to just endure.

If we are not careful, it sells the idea that the liberation we seek is some time into the future… but that right now we cannot quite yet reclaim it. Almost as if the goalpost keeps moving eternally.

This is something a deep fire in me rebels against. It almost causes us to abandon our capacity to create radical change NOW.

It fuels to a certain degree the abandonment of our light.

I think you are at the same time the light and the tunnel. Some might say we unconsciously create the tunnel… that’s a debate for another time.

And instead of waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel, you can literally light it up! All the way up.

You can reconcile with your own light. And reclaim the capacity to bring beauty right where you are. Even as you are navigating some of the most challenging circumstances.

And to do that, disrupting all forms of self abandonment needs to become a way of being.

This is why I am so passionate about teaching how to transcend all forms of self abandonment.
