Until you get this, shadow work feels too hard
The art of reconciling with your shadow & a special invitation
If there is a thought form I wanted to infuse at the core of my book Scars of Gold, it is that your shadow is not the scapegoat for all your shortcomings.
(PS: You’ll want to read this peace till the end to check the new bonuses included with your preorder of Scars of Gold.)
I think we make the journey of shadow integration way harder than it needs to be. As soon as we realize that there are some patterns and unintegrated aspects of ourselves that hijack us in the dark, it is easy to see them as the enemy.
We blame the shadow for our sabotage, our resistance, our inability to soften in love, our struggle to feel free in expression.
If you look at your inner world like a family that can sometimes be dysfunctional, then the shadow often plays the role of the scapegoat.
And once we’ve found the culprit, what do we do? We try to amputate it. We want to get rid of the parts of us that scare us, carry shame, or inconvenience us.
But this only reinforces the very mentality of divide that caused the wound in the first place.
You cannot integrate what you are at war with.
Until you see the benevolence of the shadow, shadow work will always feel like wrestling with yourself.
I talk about this into more depth in my most recent episode of the ENHEARTENED podcast that you can find on YouTube here:
This episode is as raw and unscripted as it gets. I dive deep into the teachings from writing my book Scars of Gold.
Your shadow is not out to get you, it is out to awaken you
Your shadow has been holding the pieces of you that you couldn’t hold.
The heartbreak you weren’t ready to feel.
The shame you didn’t know how to meet.
The brilliance you were too afraid to express.
It has been saying to you all along:
“I will hold this for you until you are ready.”
If that is not benevolence, I don’t know what is.
The moment you realize this, shadow work changes. It becomes less about outsmarting your shadow and more about building a healthy relationship with it.
I want to take you through a journey to do just that.
