When your soul goes quiet - On making sense of spiritual depression
You are not lost - you are awakening
I’ve written about spiritual depression before, and I always felt like more needed to be said about it.
I like to think of it as a soul intervention. A soul-initiated pause.
I think going through a mid life crisis for example is a mainstream example of it, even though most people wouldn’t interpret that critical moment as a soul intervention.
You can think of it an energetic cocoon that invites deeper recalibration.
How do you know you might be going through one?
There are seasons when your light goes quiet. Not because something is wrong, but because deeper templates that define the way you show up in the world are rearranging themselves within you.
You might try to create, and nothing comes. You search for meaning, and everything feels like fog. You may even feel like an alien in your own life.
This is what I call spiritual depression. Again, a soul-initiated pause. Which means it’s appropriate.
It is something we’ve been conditioned to see as wrong.
It’s not always triggered by trauma or an external life crisis.
It may feel like regression, like isolation, like the death of your former self. But it is not a breakdown. It is a recalibration.
And like any deep realignment, it will ask of you to slow down, to listen, to clear what is unfinished and to make space for the emergence of a new template through which your light wants to be expressed.
When I went through my own seasons of spiritual depression, I didn’t have language for it. I just knew I couldn’t go back to who I had been. And I had no clue who I was becoming.
It wasn’t necessary as agonizing as a full fledged dark night of the ego, but it was disorienting to say the least.
That year broke me open. I stopped pretending I had answers. I let go of programs that no longer lit me up. I told the truth WAY MORE. I faced what I’d been avoiding. And slowly, something new began to rise.

I couldn’t have read anything more resonant to what I am experiencing right now. I feel like I’m in a chrysalis that’s deeply uncomfortable and suffocating at times (with how much I’m confronting myself). Thank you for this. 🩷🙏🏽
Yes!
I've experienced this many times and learned to Surrender to the process, including Not trying to figure out what it is...Those thoughts just get in the way of the process.
It passes and I also feel renewed and rebirthed after.🤍
