As you suggest, Campbell’s notion of “bliss” goes beyond mere momentary pleasure or hedonism. He referred to a deep sense of being in alignment with one’s true self, even if the path is challenging. He cautioned that if one’s bliss is solely about fun and excitement, they might be on the wrong track, underscoring the need for introspection to discover one’s true calling.

Campbell’s original meaning behind “follow your bliss” was an invitation to seek out and commit to pursuits that resonate deeply with one’s authentic self, leading to a more meaningful and enriched life—so it seems this is in full alignment with what you’ve shared with us here. Thank you.

I also feel deep gratitude for this most welcome clarification from Xavier! The moment I started reading, the word "state" popped up and it was then followed by "being aligned", something I am utterly grateful for the opportunity to experience quite often. Yes, I fully sense it and I am filled with awe each time it occurs. May we all continue to be open to such a great blessing. A blissful year 2025 to you all. Namaste! 🤗🪷🍀🌈💕

Thank you! Bliss, to me, feels like harmony. And the path to harmony doesn’t always feel harmonious at first! 🙏🏻

"Yet the feeling of knowing that I am actively surrendering to something my soul wants at its core, even despite the hardships, that is bliss."

I relate to this so completely.

Thank you, Xavier! I loved reading this. I particularly resonated with your point about bliss being a spiritual sense... Such a great perspective! I've just recently felt a calling to join a public speaking club and while it is terrifying, it also feels blissful and aligned ✨

Thank-you for doing such a wonderful job of shining a light on this idea of "bliss." I'm finding that refining my ability to 'listen' to my soul's voice helps me discern when I'm moving in 'bliss' and when I'm satisfying some smaller part of me. It's also validating to hear that when I engage in the interests and activities that light me up, and things don't go as smoothly as I think they will, it doesn't necessarily mean something has gone 'wrong.' It just means I have something inside me that needs some honest attention.

This word came up for me in meditation a few days ago and you helped me put it in perspective. I had come to the conclusion that doing what’s best for me doesn’t always feel ‘good’ but it feels ‘right’— bliss is what typically follows after making the ‘right’ feeling decision. Thank you for this! 🌈🖤
